Student Assessment

Kindergarten - Grade 9

Student achievement in Kindergarten to Grade 9 is based on a 4-point scale that represents a child's achievement related to the outcomes in Alberta Education's Program of StudiesParents are strongly encouraged to contact teachers with any questions regarding their children's achievement and grades.

Excellent - The student can provide in-depth inferences and applications that go beyond what was specifically taught in class; is able to evaluate information and use it in ways not specifically taught to the student (eg. justify, create, compose, design, assess, recommend )

Approaching Excellent -- In addition to Level 3, the student has partial success at Level 4

Proficient -- The student has no major errors or omissions regarding the knowledge and/or skills required and is able to apply and/or analyze information related to the content presented in class (eg. illustrate, summarize, compare/contrast, investigate

Approaching Proficient -- The student has no major errors or omissions regarding the Level 2 content and partial knowledge of the Level 3 content

Adequate -- The student has no major errors or omissions regarding the simpler details of the content as the student is able to recognize or recall specific terminology and/ or perform basic skills (eg. name, describe, compare, recognize, label, identify)
